Introducing: Doves of Love Release, Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Written by , Posted in Advice & Planning

So we have to admit when we heard about Doves of Love Release we wasn’t 100% sure what it was all about either? Some may see it as an extra cost for something fancy but after doing our little bit of research we found releasing doves at a wedding has a much deeper meaning than that…

Releasing Doves at a wedding is an old tradition than can be dated back as far as ancient Greek and Roman times. This was an era when wedding gifts were about symbolism rather than their usefulness in the household. When a couple were married they were given two white doves, which was said to bring luck and union to their home. It also symbolizes love and fidelity, as once they find a mate they will stick together for as long as they both shall live.

When we got a researching we also found that releasing an extra dove at a wedding is a special way in which you can remember loved ones that can no longer be with you on your day – we can’t imagine anything more symbolic than that.

Others among you may be concerned about the welfare of the birds so we would like to share a bit about the birds with you. The white doves used in release are actually permanently white pigeons, as in fact this is what doves are. The type used are those that have naturally amazing homing instincts and so are trained to fly home from wherever they are released.

Doves of Love release cover the Herefordshire and Worcestershire areas and have a policy that ensures that the doves are released at a suitable time so that they have enough time to get home and settled before dark. Each dove also has an ID ring so that if a dove is lost or found it can be traced back to its owner.

The care of the birds is paramount to Doves of Love release and so all releases are attended by a fully trained co-ordinator on the day that will show you how to handle the birds before release as well as ensuring all conditions are suitable for release on the day.

We would like to thank Doves of Love release for all the information on Dove release, if you would like to know more please take a peek at their website here. We hope this has shed some light on what dove release is all about and we would love to hear your tales of dove release and what it meant to you.

Much Bespoke Love
