Seduction And Sophistication – Victorian Inspired Bridal Gowns by Angels Carrying Savage Weapons…

Written by , Posted in Bridal Fashion

Good morning lovelies. I hope that you have enjoyed your weekends and had lots of fun in the snow. Unfortunately it scuppered our plans of exhibiting at the Designer Vintage Bridal Boutique in Birmingham for which we are very sorry and as equally disappointed. Despite the Arctic conditions there was a good turn out to the show so well done to all those that braved the weather to attend, you did us proud.

This morning I would like to introduce you to a designer that I have been keeping an eye on ever since I met her at the National Wedding Show last year. Lindsay Fidler specialises in creating eclectic and handmade couture wedding gowns that are heavily inspired by the sophistication of the Victorians and the glamour of the 40′s and 50′s.

“Our bridal ranges are as eclectic as our brides, we have tried designing ranges, but have found that the brides that come to us already have a good idea of what they want and just need to find the right person to design and make it for them. We constantly design and make new samples of dresses to give brides an idea of possibilities but that’s all they are, they can change elements of a design, choose a different colour or fabric, add detailing its completely their choice.”

“All of our gowns are handmade bespoke pieces, we really care about the client and her wishes so we do our utmost to ensure she can have exactly what she wants, its one of the single biggest purchases a bride will make so its important that, she is happy, its also about the rapport we have with our clients, many of them we can happily call friends and return year on year for clothing from our sister website www.angelicweapons.co.uk which is home to our burlesque and alternative fashion range, some of them even just drop in for a cup of tea and a catch up and one brings me home made cakes.”

A Rock The Frock Shoot & A Perfect Picnic: Rachael & Aaron

Written by , Posted in Rock The Frock

Are you ready for something slightly different and wonderful today?

This is the first EVER ‘Rock The Frock’ photo shoot to have  featured on Bespoke Bride and as far as rock the frocks go this is pretty darn awesome!! Rachael and Aaron have received a fair bit of coverage on their wedding already being featured in magazines and popular wedding blog Rock N Roll Bride.

We were thrilled when photographer Craig Dearsley asked if we would like to feature this cool couples rock the frock shoot. The couple married at the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth in May of last year.

Rachael and Aarons wedding day was heavily inspired by heavy metal music, tattoo culture and baroque decor, so this shoot is quite a comparison as the backdrop chosen was a beautifully sunny woodland in Berkshire with pastel coloured streamers, picnic blankets and deck chairs.

The couple used an all star wedding vendor list; Honeypie Boutique for Rachael’s dress, Janine Basil for her headpiece and one of our fave’s and of course Craig’s beautiful wife Veronica Dearly created their bespoke paper goods and stationery.

What Does the Future Hold for Wedding Fairs & Exhibitions? – Introducing The Online Wedding Show!

Written by , Posted in Advice & Planning, In The News!

This is probably the most nerve wracking post we will ever have to write…

Those of you in the wedding industry awoke to the news this morning that the Designer Wedding show has sadly had to suspend trading and file for insolvency. In turn this has meant that the show, due to be held in February at Battersea Park in London ,has been cancelled leaving those suppliers that were due to exhibit – (many of which are small businesses with limited budgets) left out of pocket. The lovely Annabel from Love My Dress was the first to express her sadness at the news ,adding that over the years she has loved attending the event reporting on exciting new talents and trends to watch out for.

The Designer Wedding Show has been an institution, so it is devastating to think of all those that will now lose out, not only with money,  but with the time that went into organising and preparing for this event. Many used The Designer Wedding Show, in particular, as their platform to launch new products and services, and as Annabel mentioned, there is now a huge question mark over the future of the traditional wedding fair format.

It has become clear to us through  working on Bespoke Bride, that smaller fairs, many of which we attend and exhibit at ,such as the Designer Vintage Bridal Show and The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza ,are adding a personal and unique twist on the traditional wedding fair. Not only that, the online market place such as Etsy and Not on the High Street have had a massive impact on the way couples now shop for their wedding, and as we have seen our own blog grow so rapidly over the past year, it is obvious that blogs have an influential role as well.

So now would seem as better time than any to introduce you to something we have kept under wraps and have been working on for some time…

The Online Wedding Show… Created specifically for those who want to create a wedding day full of personality and passion, with products and services that are unique and alternative, in other words a truly Bespoke Wedding. What makes this show special is that exhibitors will be there for brides and grooms to connect with and explore from anywhere and at anytime, all from the comfort of their own home.  As well as that, independent and unique wedding businesses will be able to receive the recognition that they deserve from brides and grooms all over.

Wedding Costs and How to Reduce Them?

Written by , Posted in Advice & Planning

We recently featured a post by Guides for Brides that suggested that the festive season was the most popular time for couples to become engaged. So, we are guessing that there are currently  lots of newly engaged lovelies out there all beginning their search for the perfect wedding and finding out that it is going to cost a fair whack!

We have been doing some of our own research over the last couple of weeks to find out just how much a wedding costs and what items and services are going to cost you the most. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of budgeting when it comes to planning your wedding. We could think of nothing worse than planning the day of your dreams to then find you cannot afford it or someone is going to get into some serious debt – not the way anyone wants to begin married life.

It has been estimated that the average wedding will cost around £20,000 however, this number decreased last year when the average was just over £16,000. Could this mean that already brides and groom are becoming spend savvy when it comes to their wedding day? We took a look at each separate area of a wedding, looked at the average cost & thought up many many ways of how you could reduce the price!
