DIY HULA HOOP BALLOON WREATH
If you follow us on Instagram you’ve probably seen a little sneak peek of a DIY I’ve been working on. I had so much fun making these hula hoop balloon wreaths and I can’t believe how easy they were to make using just a couple of items. I’m usually surprised by how long DIY’s take to make but on this occasion I was surprised by how quick the whole process was. The spray paint took about an hour to dry, I also added a second coat for good measure, then attaching the balloons to all three probably took another hour or so. I actually did it whilst I waited for our dinner to cook, that’s how simple they are.
For this project I used colours to similar to those I’ll be using at my own wedding because I’m basically obsessed with this years Pantone colour, ‘Living Coral’. I didn’t plan on using these for my wedding but when they were all finished and I was taking the final photos for this post, I couldn’t help but think about how awesome they’d look with my theme. So heads up, this might not be the last time you see this DIY.
- Balloons
- Hula Hoops
- Spray Paint
Spray paint your hoop in the colour of your choice. Wait for it to dry and add a second coat if necessary.
Blow up your balloons, varying the amount of air in each one, so that the balloons are all in different sizes. A handy tip for when it comes to tying the balloons – tie two together as this will make it easier to attach them to the hoops.
Tie the balloons to the hoop using either the ends of the balloons or string. Keep doing this until you’re happy with the design. If you want to add a little something extra, dot some real or fake flowers among the balloons to create a cute floral effect. Simply hang the hoop with string and voila you’ve created your very own balloon wreath.
How cute would a few of these look to create a bold backdrop? I also think these would look great for a birthday party. I might even make a couple more for my friends baby shower in a couple of weeks and the good news is I know it will only take me a couple of hours. How’s that for a simple weekend project.
Amazing!! It looks so beautiful and easy to create! Loved it!
