FREE PRINTABLE CONFETTI SAVE THE DATE
If you’re at the stages of your wedding planning where you’re ready to send out your save the dates then we’ve created just the free printable is for you! Or if you’d prefer, you don’t need to print them at all? If you’d rather send them out via email and save paper waste you can send them as a digital copy. We recently discovered GMass, although it’s mostly used for email marketing, it actually has a lot of functions and would be a great, easy, and cost efficient way to send wedding/party invitations online. You can personalize each email with your guests’ names and other useful information. Cool, huh! But if you’d prefer to go old school all you have to do is print them at home and send off, they’re the perfect quick and easy DIY!
All you need to do is download the template here, then print out onto white card. Next, simply cut them out (using a guillotine is best, and much much quicker) and fill in your details. You only need to let your guests know your names (obvs) and the date of your wedding at this stage. We recommend sending out your save the dates around 6-8 months before the big day!

Now you just need to pop them in some colourful envelopes (my favey is pink!), fill out the addresses to all the lucky guests receiving them and pop them in post! The save the dates print out size A5 so you can easily find a bunch of envelopes to fit.
Then that’s it, you’re done! Easy right? So what do you guys think?! We love the fun, confetti feel design to this stationery (in every colour of the rainbow!) And don’t forget we’ve got an entire printables club filled with photo booth props, bachelorette games, drink stirrers and much much more! So, you’ve fallen for the charm of our confetti save the dates, and honestly, who wouldn’t? They’re pure joy! But maybe you’re curious, wondering what else is out there when it comes to announcing your big day without spending a dime. After years of chatting with couples, helping them stretch their wedding budgets further than they thought possible, I’ve seen some truly ingenious ways to create stunning, free save the date cards or templates. The truth is, a memorable save the date doesn’t need a hefty price tag; it simply needs a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of your personality.
Let’s explore some fantastic avenues for crafting your very own free save the date that will still have your guests marking their calendars with glee.
Digital Delights: Sending Your Love Electronically
In our super-connected world, going digital for your save the dates is one of the easiest ways to keep costs at zero. This option is not just budget-friendly; it’s also wonderfully eco-conscious!
- Email Templates & Design Tools: You don’t need fancy software to design a beautiful digital card. Platforms like Canva (they have a free version with tons of templates!) or PicMonkey allow you to drag, drop, and customize with your photos, fonts, and colors. Look for templates tagged “save the date” or “announcement.” You can create stunning graphics that look professionally designed. Once you’re happy, just download it as a high-resolution JPG or PNG file.
- Personalized Website Snippets: If you’re building a wedding website (many platforms offer free versions!), consider designing a simple, elegant graphic that includes your key date and location, and then link directly to your website. The save the date becomes a beautiful digital “cover,” enticing guests to click through for more details. I saw one couple, Maya and Leo, who designed a gorgeous little animated GIF of their hands holding their date, and it was so charming when it popped up in my inbox! It felt incredibly personal and didn’t cost them a cent.
- Direct Message Magic: For your closest friends and family, a personalized message with your designed graphic through apps like WhatsApp or Messenger can be incredibly intimate. Just make sure you’re keeping track of who you’ve sent it to!
Photo Power: Let Your Love Shine Through Images
You’ve probably got a treasure trove of photos, whether from a professional engagement shoot or simply amazing snaps on your phone. These are golden for a free save the date!
- Engagement Photo Highlights: Your engagement photos are already gorgeous, so why not put them to work? Choose one or two favorite shots and overlay your wedding date and names using a free editing app (like Adobe Express, or even your phone’s built-in editor). A crisp, high-quality image with minimal text can be incredibly impactful and elegant.
- “Usie” Fun: Don’t have professional engagement photos? No problem! Grab your partner, find some good natural light, and take a fun “usie” (selfie of you two!). Hold up a chalkboard with your wedding date, write it on your hands, or pose in a creative way that hints at your big day. The authenticity of a genuine, joyful photo often resonates more deeply with guests than anything overly posed.
- Photo Collage Charm: If you can’t pick just one photo, create a simple collage. Again, free apps are your friend here. Arrange a few candid shots of you two, maybe one from when you met, another from the proposal, and then a clear shot of your date. This tells a mini-story and feels wonderfully personal.
Hand-Drawn Charm & Scanner Magic: Art from the Heart
For the creatively inclined, your own hands can produce the most unique and meaningful save the dates.
- Sketch, Draw, Doodle: Are you good at calligraphy, sketching, or even just fun doodles? Create your own custom design! Draw your wedding date in a beautiful script, sketch a little illustration that represents your relationship, or design a unique border. The imperfect charm of something hand-drawn is incredibly appealing and unique.
- The Scanner is Your Friend: Once you’ve drawn your masterpiece, simply scan it at a high resolution (300 DPI is ideal for crispness). This turns your physical artwork into a digital file that you can then send out electronically or, if you want to splurge a tiny bit later, print professionally. This technique adds an incredible layer of personal touch that no store-bought card can replicate.
