HOW TO THROW A MINI STRANGER THINGS PARTY (+ FREE PRINTABLE INVITE!)
Anyone else totally gutted that season 3 of Stranger Things isn’t out in time for Halloween? I’ve been going about my entire year thinking it would be on Netflix this October but boy was I wrong! Nevertheless, it gave me an excuse to rewatch the first 2 seasons again and needless to say I’m back in the zone of feeling all the 80s vibes! So if you’ve been thinking to yourself that it would be fun to host a little party on Halloween or even when the new season comes out then we’re here to share our top tips for partying in the upside down!
SEND YOUR INVITE
First things first, you need to let people know about your party right? And as easy as a facebook event page is there’s something much more nostalgic about receiving an official invite through the post, and if there was ever a time to be old school it’s with a ST party! Luckily we’ve designed an adorable pastel Stranger Things invite that you can print off, fill in the details and post it off to your guests! Download the invite here!
PROPS & DECOR
What’s a party without a few props, am I right?! Of course, we wanted to DIY a few items so firstly, it was all about the retro cassette tapes! We simply spray-painted a few old tapes in pastel colours to dot around the party and brighten up the decor (while we were there, we sprayed a few munchkin pumpkins too!). We also decided to make a Christmas light garland using the Cricut! Of course, major bonus points if you use actual Christmas lights just like Joyce Byers but I loved how cute our cardstock ones turned out to be!

When you think of iconic decor and props from the series there are few items that spring to mind, straight off the bat is the Eggo box right?! It turns out that Eggo’s are not easy to find when you’re in the UK so we had to make a box out of an old cereal box, luckily Kellogg’s offer a free printable label that you can print off! WINNING! We also grabbed a couple of pieces of wood and hand-painted the sign ‘Castle Byers’ to display in the background.

Needless to say we had to use our very own Stranger Things stickers on the glasses! We opted for them in the iconic red colour but we offer them in over 10 different colours if you’re sticking to a certain colour scheme!

For the rest of the decorations we turned straight to Etsy of course and found there were SO MANY epic options to choose from, I mean seriously how good is that Barb cushion cover from Emma Mount?! That is taking the decor to the next level! Then of course we had to have a couple of ST slogans right?! So we got a Bitchin’ banner and an ‘Upside Down’ banner from Paper Street Dolls and displayed them up around the room teamed with the DIY lights! Finally, using artwork to create another level to your decor is always a great idea, so we got these gorgeous prints from ROHNOH and displayed them around the room.
Other items you can keep around are vintage items like polaroid cameras, records, retro phones and bonus points if you’ve got a record player!
FAVOURS/GIFTS
We absolutely love giving guests a little something they can take away with them from a party and this one is no exception! Why not get everyone a pack Stranger Things Stickers from The Kittn or how about these Steve Harrington Magnets sets from Hey Joey It’s Estelle?! How good would they look on their fridges back at home as a constant reminder of the fun party!

SET A DRESS CODE
We highly recommend setting an 80’s style dress theme for your party, I opted for something that Nancy would wear to school or to hunt a demogorgon and Emily was channelling all of the Eleven vibes with her pink dress and knee high socks! Of course if you want to take this one step further, you can set a full on costume party and allow people to be really EXTRA with their outfits!

WAFFLE CART + DRINKS
Make sure you’re serving plenty of snacks and drinks at your party, we opted for strawberry milkshakes teamed with our Stranger Things Stickers but if you want to mix up a few alcoholic beverages then be our guest! Of course you’re gonna need to put out some Eggos and waffles (we added strawberries and blueberries for a little something extra!) and maybe you could even find some 80s snacks!

EXTRAS
Why not have Stranger Things playing on Netflix in the background whilst the party is happening? Be sure to mute the TV and then play a killer 80s soundtrack throughout the evening (You’ll want to make sure you add ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’ to the playlist of course!
