Admit it, you miss the days of Easter egg hunts, I know I do! When I was younger I used to absolutely LOVE hunting for Easter eggs around the garden and trying to crack the clues! It’s no secret that I still love games now and since I don’t have any kids to create an Easter egg hunt for I thought to myself….Wouldn’t it be fun if this Easter I made a boozy adult Easter egg hunt?! And instead of chocolate I could fill the eggs with SHOTS! That’s right you heard me! Me and my sister always go out on Easter Sunday for some drinks and this seemed like the perfect drinking game for all our girls that would be coming over before!

So how does it work? Well we figured we would hide the eggs around the house & the garden, some with clues to where they could find an egg inside and others with shots of alcohol in! I went out and bought shots that already had lids on (hence no spillage) in the flavours of cherry, blueberry and apple sour! Whoever finds an egg with a shot in can then choose who has to take the shot!

The best news is I’ve designed some pretty printable egg-shaped clues that you can print out and fill in to tailer to wherever you’re hiding the eggs! Let’s get started shall we?

YOU WILL NEED:

Plastic fillable eggs (I got these ones from Tesco) // Shots with lids in a variety of flavours // printable clue sheet // (also make sure that the shots you bought will actually fit inside the eggs!)

STEP 1:

Print out the egg shaped clues onto white paper and fill out with clues on where you plan to hide them! Bonus points if you can make them rhyme! I’ve seen great ones like ‘Where can they be? They can’t be far, why don’t you look inside the _______’ and ‘Look outside, search a lot, somewhere near a flower _______’

STEP 2:

Fill some of the eggs with the clues and others with the shots and then screw them shut, making sure that they’re secure.

Pink Lemonade Jello Shots - A Beautiful Mess

Photo by Laura Gummerman of A Beautiful Mess

We all want to try and save a little bit of money on our wedding so why not make your own cocktails for your guests to enjoy. At a wedding I recently attended, the couple made their own cocktails as welcome drinks for guests to help themselves to on arrival and believe me it went down a treat! It could be as simple as filling up a couple of drinks dispensers or putting out glasses prefilled with syrup so all guests need to do is top them up with champagne, whatever you decide to do, we promise your guests will love it! So check out our favourite cocktail recipes all of which could be easily made up in batch the night before your wedding and left to chill in the fridge until needed. Obviously if your not a fan of cocktails you could just as simply create your own mocktails a few of which you will also find here…

1. Pink Lemonade Jello Shots: Ok so not strictly a cocktail but the jello is sort of made from a cocktail/ mocktail of sorts and as I was looking to find recipes that could be easily made before hand, I thought these would make a brilliantly unique addition to your cocktail bar.

2. Lavender & Grapefruit Gin Buck Cocktail: I haven’t ever tasted a buck or a mule before but I have it on good authority that this is a good recipe for warm weather and combines gin with ginger beer, grapefruit and lavender syrup. Now that’s some sort of flavour combo right there!

3. Watermelon Lime Lemonade: A refreshing mocktail for the watermelon lovers amongst you. This recipe is super simple and just uses juice from a lemon, lime and watermelon.

6. Boozy Coconut Flavoured Ice Pops: These remind me of my favourite past time of sucking on ice pops when I was kid. Well actually I treated myself to one last week but that’s not the point. These boozy ice pops are a fantastic take on everyone’s favourite childhood treat. These are made out of pineapple, coconut and gin and can easily be made days even weeks in advance and stored in the freezer until your guests arrive.
