The Power (& Health Benefits!) Of Gratitude…

New year’s resolutions are a great thing don’t you think? They’re a chance to set yourself a new goal, learn something new and to grow as a person. This year, I wanted to do something a little different when it came to my new years resolution. As some of you may know I’m a massive believer in the Law Of Attraction, now don’t go thinking I’m a crazy person right about now but I genuinely believe that if you keep a positive and happy mind then your life will be filled with positive and wonderful opportunities, moments and feelings! I really believe that you can have anything you want as long as you set your mind to it!

Any negative thoughts that pop into your head need to pushed right back out! Believe me, flip it over, think about something positive or you’ll just make yourself feel bad when you focus on those negative thoughts.

Now, if you want to start attracting positive things in to your life (and seriously, who doesn’t?!) then there is one key thing you need to do. Show gratitude. Because we all know we reap what we sow and we get back what we give out right? So the more we show gratitude for things, the more things we’ll have to be grateful for.

That’s why, this year, my resolution is to keep a gratitude journal. Every night, before I go to sleep, I write down things that I really appreciated that day and was really thankful for! It could be as small as someone letting you share their umbrella in the rain or making you a warm cup of tea or it can be as huge as feeling grateful for having a roof over your head and being able to cook lovely meals with the food you bought because you’re grateful to have enough money to do so.

Off The Record: Fireworks, Friends and Feeling Festive

Hello you lovely lot! How has your week been? What have you been getting up to? Me & Emily have been busy little bees! We had a fantabulous time at EWE a week ago today and since then our week has got better and better! We met so many awesome suppliers at EWE and loved our little road trip down with Emily from Fishee Designs! If you missed the show then you seriously missed out! Make sure you get your little butt there next time! This week has also been particularly special for me since Andrea and her mum arriving in England! As some of you know I absolutely adore Mexico and one of my closest friends lives there, well this week she and her mum Coral came to visit us and I can’t quite believe it! I’m so used to being on a beach in a bikini with her and now we’re all wrapped up in our winter clothes together! They had never even left Mexico before so this trip is a very special one for them! Here’s what else we’ve been getting up to and loving this week…

Celebrating bonfire night at James’ grandparents house! It’s a family tradition of theirs to all get together and watch the home firework display and huddle around the bonfire to keep warm! Then everyone goes back inside and indulges in hot jacket potatoes, chilli con carne, soup & hot dogs! We then finish off the evening with everybody taking their turn to stir the Christmas pudding! It really is such a lovely evening and makes me even more excited for the holiday festivities that will follow!

Getting dressed up as Jigsaw! I was scaring myself every time I looked in the mirror!

Off The Record: Busy Bees, Brilliant Boyfriends & Broccoli!

My oh my! What a week we’ve had! We’ve been busy visiting old friends, attending awesome events, creating our first ever YouTube video, planning our 2 year old birthday party and to top it all off we were listed as one of Channel 4’s top 10 wedding blogs!! Yep…That’s what I said, Channel 4! How exciting is that?! I’ve gotta say, Wednesday was by far one of the highlights of my week! Sure, it had it’s lows like city driving (seriously! This country bumpkin is a nervous wreck in Bristol! lol!) and reverse parallel parking into a space while cars sat waiting for me to hurry the hell up so they could continue on our journey! But despite those minor ‘bumps in the road’ it rang so true to me on Wednesday that you cannot underestimate the importance of getting away from your laptop and spending some quality time with people! We met up with Isabel While from Bridal Styling in the morning to chat all about what’s been going on (and of course we gobbled down a lot of biscuits and tea!) then we spent our afternoon over the gorgeous Emily Fisher’s house from Fishee Designs where we started planning our Birthday party for next month (eek!) and were treated to a delicious evening meal! If that wasn’t enough for our day we then headed over to Little Wedding Space for the evening to attend the opening of a mini wedding fair that lasts two weeks! So, if you can’t quite make it one day, fret not! There’s plenty more days to pop in and see Little Wedding Space and all of it’s fabulous exhibitors along with it!

That’s not all we’ve been loving this week though! There’s so much more…

Jess loves:

When Emily is tipsy on champagne! She becomes even more hilarious and constantly insists on getting a McDonalds! (hey, who wouldn’t?!)

Getting a visit from my friend Matt who lives in London! There’s nothing like a good old catch up with someone you haven’t seen for months!

Cooking home made fish fingers and lemon mayo dip! It was delicious! Not to mention, pretty healthy!

Having a boyfriend who is always very happy to support me in whatever I do, he’s so bloody helpful, understanding and supportive!

Doing our first ever work shops at a wedding show! We were at The Vintage Wedding Fair, exhibiting and teaching brides a few DIY tricks to create a wedding day even more personal to them! Such good fun!
