THIS COLOURFUL DIY WEDDING IS THE SWEETEST!

COLOURFUL DIY WEDDING IN SILVERCITY WITH THE SWEETEST HEART DECOR (9)

Meredith & Avelino are a fantastic couple with a love of laughing, color, family and friends so it is no surprise that their wedding day incorporated it all! Silver City, NM held great memories for the pair this was where they first met & started dating. Although the two of the eventually set up home elsewhere, after becoming engaged they naturally, picked Silver City as their wedding destination!

Meredith and Avelino were able to select details that reflected their laid-back, light-hearted and fun personalities. They combined touches of vintage style, like Meredith’s birdcage veil and tea-length dress, with lots of modern and DIY touches such as the brides vibrant and organic bouquet, which was arranged by the bride herself. Tons of colorful paper hearts adorned their ceremony space, lined walkways and decorated their DIY ceremony arch. The couple shared personal and teary-eyed vows, all surrounded by family, friends, and the gorgeous New Mexican landscape, visible from around their venue at Bear Mountain Lodge. After the ceremony, guests danced the night away, enjoyed bubbles and homemade-jam-favors and a cozy stay & delicious breakfast at the lodge.

CROWN & GLORY & ROCK N ROLL BRIDE JUST REVEALED THEIR NEW COLLECTION AND IT IS TOTALLY EPIC!

Announcing the new Crown & Glory and Rock n Roll Bride Veil collection (19)

The Rock n Roll Bride for Crown & Glory collections have been creating quite a buzz ever since they launched their very first collab together nearly three years ago. Kat & Sophie have created a range of bridal accessories that really is like no other and have previously included floral cat ears, Glitter belts, ‘Bride to Be’ Headbands (my personal fave!) and much more. But now the girls have moved on to something bigger and better!

Since announcing the latest range would be veils, Kat has been teasing sneak peeks on her instagram which has been getting us all sorts of excited but last week was the official launch and we have been dying to share the range ever since! Well we have some exciting news for you! Not only are we sharing the launch with you today, you can now shop the full range in BB boutique!

The capsule collection is made up of six pieces that can all be customised to suit a bride’s own, distinctive style. The glitter bows come in 30 colour options, the heart encrusted gem pieces can be created in any colour, and the Circle Slogan Veil was designed specifically to allow brides to stamp their own word or phrase on it! These pieces are designed to be as individual as the brides that will wear them.

Kat added, “These veils are for the babes with punk rock in their hearts who leave a trail of glitter and magic as they stomp down the aisle. They’re for girls who match their hair to their favourite lipstick.”

HERE’S HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN UNIQUE BIRDCAGE VEIL (WITH MINIMAL SEWING EFFORT!)

HOW TO DIY BIRDCAGE VEIL WITH WEAR THE CANVAS BLOG (8)

You guys! I am so excited to share today’s DIY with you! Not least because it is brought to you by one of our favourite Instagrammers & bloggers Jené Sigl from Wear The Canvas. Sewing is not our strong point and we have wanted to broaden our skill set for a little while now, so when Jené offered to show us how to make this bold, one of a kind birdcage veil, we just had to share it with you too! It is insanely easy to make & needs minimal sewing effort, great for beginners like us! Enjoy!

You will need:

Netting or Tulle // Hair Comb Clip // Feathers // Ribbon // Needle and Thread // Scissors // Tape Measurer

Step 1:

Wrap the ribbon around the base of the hair comb, and sew into place.

Step 2:

Decide how long and wide you want the netting of your veil to be. You can do this by wrapping it around your head, or looking up common veil lengths. Keep in mind that the netting will be gathered to fit the comb. This means the length will be a tiny bit shorter with the gathers, and the wider the netting, the fuller the veil will be. Once you have decided what size you would like, cut your netting to those measurements. I decided to cut my netting 36” wide by 16” tall.

Step 3:

Fold your tulle in half so the two shorter sides are laying over one another. Use a measuring tape to create a diagonal shape on the top corners of your netting. Cut the corners at an angle using the measuring tape as a cutting line. When you are done cutting through both sides, unfold your fabric. You should now have a piece that looks like a rectangle with its two top corners cut off.

Step 4:

Starting at the bottom of one cut off corner, run a gathering stitch along the top edge of the fabric until you reach the bottom of the other cut of corner. Gather the netting so that it is the same size as your hair comb.
