Times they are changing

Many of you might have noticed that there have been a few changes going on around here lately, so we thought it was about time that we filled you in on what we have been up to and whatsmore the exciting plans that we have in the pipeline for this little business of ours.

If you tuned in last week, you would have heard all about the launch of the brand spanking new ‘BB boutique’ (you can read more about it here and see it in action here!). This was a huge project for us, taking 2 years to come to fruition and boy did we learn a lot on that journey. There were times when we thought that it might not happen, but we remained positive and our hard work has truly paid off.

So now it’s time to sit back and relax a little, right? Well actually, No!

As business owners we are always analysing our business, looking at ways we can improve and grow. This year has been our biggest in terms of growth but we we are not ready to stop there just yet. The world of blogging is quickly changing, no one really knows where this career will take us, which means constantly being able to adapt and evolve to keep up, something we always bear in mind when considering the future of Bespoke Bride.

I absolutely love this time of year! Awards season is well and truly underway and we are so excited to be part of it! Last week we were absolutely thrilled to share with you that we had been nominated for a ‘Best DIY Wedding blog’ in the Wedding Blog Awards 2015 and now we are here to ask for your help again. The Cosmopolitan Blog Awards are back for another year and we would absolutely love to be nominated for a second year in the ‘Best for Bridal’ category!

I’ve got to be truthful and tell you that I always feel a little uncomfortable writing these posts, I have never been much of a natural at selling myself. I think it is probably the British in me, as I am terribly modest but I honestly think it does us good to make note of our achievements from time to time.

One of the questions you will almost always be asked in any situation where you are competing for something is ‘why do you deserve to win?’ Whether you are in a job interview, applying for an internship or scholarship or like us hoping to win an award, this is something you should always be prepared to answer, which is why I wanted to write this post today.

Since its launch in 2011, Bespoke Bride has changed dramatically! When we started out, we had no idea that our blog would turn into what it is today! We were hobby bloggers, trying to spread the word about our own independent small businesses and gain insight into the ‘industry’. We had no idea what it was to run a business, write a blog or be business partners and we learnt some very tough lessons along the way!

The Hub Wedding Industry Event

So we have to admit that we have been keeping a very exciting secret from you. At the beginning of this year we received an email from the sweetie that is Kiki-Sunshine Boonwaat of The Chosen Wedding Collective, about a top notch event she was planning for this summer, called The Hub. Fast forward a few months and the gears are in motion for what is set to be one of the industries most inspirational workshops around and the best news is, we have been invited to be one of the keynote speakers!

The Hub is a supportive and encouraging community where like-minded creatives and business owners can meet to gain insights from the some of the wedding industry’s leading professionals, make friends and have a jolly good ol’ time! This is a huge honour for us as we will also be joined by fellow award winners, stylist Kirsten Butler, otherwise known as The Little Wedding Helper and venue Directory owner Emma Hla of Coco Wedding Venues, as well as many more!

Hi folks! I hope you have all had a fabulous week. Its been busy at BB HQ as we have been busy filming new YouTube videos and getting ready for a quick trip to London next week for a few businessy bits and bobs! I absolutely love working from home and having my own schedule but I equally love being able to get out and travel now and again too. Staring at the same four walls can make you go a little crazy from time to time. Anywho here is what we have been loving this week….

Hanging out with Jess and heading to the cinema to watch ’50 Shades of Grey’. We were totally unsure about whether or not to watch it, not wanting to buy into the hype or anything, but I am so glad we did. Although we did spend half the film behind my scarf totally cringing, we actually thought it was a great film and I cant wait to see the next one!

Creating our final YouTube video for our ‘Month of hearts’. There were lots of sweeties, cupcakes and donuts – which we got to eat after of course!

Heading to Bath to meet Ali & Dom of Prezola and basically taking over their house for the day, styling lots of their fantastic products. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to see the full video

Shopping! I was in desperate need of some retail therapy this weekend and boy oh boy did I make the most of it. I am so ready for the summer so it was time to start stocking up on shirts, skirts & trousers of all different colours! I am slowly starting to see a rainbow forming in my closet!

After some pretty hardcore gym sessions last week I thought I would treat myself to some morning yoga to stretch my aching muscles. I used to do yoga all the time and I was surprised by how quickly I have lost my flexibility. I am now making it my mission to dedicate much more time to some yoga sessions, I finished feeling totally blissed. It is exactly what you need after a manic week!

♥  I can’t leave without mentioning Broadchurch can I? It has pretty much taken over my life for the last couple of months and I am now coming to terms with the fact it is over! What am I going to do on a Monday night now (besides get a life?) I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and was shocked by the final revelations. I won’t give too much away just in case you haven’t caught up with it yet, but all I can say is thank goodness there is a 3rd series to look forward too!

Pub Quiz! Is that lame?? I don’t even care! I really enjoy having a few drinks and a laugh as we attempt to know and guess some of the ridiculously hard questions! It’s all fun!

50 Shades Of Grey. Yep, I’m not even ashamed to say I liked it! Granted, it was so cringey at times but some of it was actually quite funny and I think there’s so much more to it than all of the sex. I’m going to have to read the second book now just so I can find out what happens!

Making homemade Mojitos! I am already addicted to mint so when the weekend rolls around and I fancy something a little special I am loving mixing up a couple of these cocktails!

Heading to the home of Ali & Dom, founders of Prezola for a fun shoot! We dragged Emily from Mermaid Gossip along and Grant from Rhubarb Martini did a fantastic job on the filming. We can’t wait to share what we got up to with you!

Working at Nan & Gramps for the day. Sometimes I find i’m so much more productive if I get out of the house and go somewhere else for the day! Plus I get completely spoiled while I’m there with yummy food and an abundance of tea!

Booking and organising our trip to London next week! We have some exciting things planned and will be visiting the fabulous Upper Street and meeting up with our friends at Cricut!
