The Designer Vintage Bridal Show, October 2013 in Review
Happy Monday morning you lovely lot! As you may have seen from our various Facebook/Instagram/Twitter posts last week we were at The Designer Vintage Bridal Show the Saturday before last and what a day we had!! It all started at 5am…ok 5:15am….ok well we were supposed to get up then but we actually dragged ourselves out of our warm beds at 5:30am to get ready and load the car up for our drive to Birmingham!
Once we had arrived and set up our super colourful stall it was time for us to check out all of the amazing exhibitors in the room! Emily held down the fort and off I went with my camera to snap away at the beautiful stands that all the vendors had worked so hard on! My first stop was ‘Oh My Honey‘ and what a sweetheart she was!! If you’re looking for a 1950’s style dress then Oh My Honey is for you! Her dresses were so cute and Emily fell in love with the polka dot wedding dress that was sitting pretty next to her stand! Opposite, was potentially one of the prettiest stands we had ever seen! Who was it I hear you ask? Well, it was Vintage Glamour Days who’s name completely lived up to the decor of the stand! It was SO glamorous and vintage! Cheryl and James made such a great team on the day and made the view from our stand a very beautiful one!
Next stop was to over to see Sparklewren. Wow. Just wow. I can honestly say I had never seen corsets like Sparklewren’s in my life! They were so unique and beautiful! I loved them so much I had to try one on! You’ll be seeing more of Sparklewren popping up on the blog in the future…
From here on out I went from stand to stand and met SO MANY awesome vendors! I’ll start with the photographers…I first met Ravinder Crone who captures beautiful, contemporary images with a timeless feel, we fell in love with one of her boudoir shoots, it was so classy! A little further up my stroll lead me to Ross Matthews, a fun and quirky chap who instantly grabbed our attention with his fun ‘living room’ stand, his images continued to grab our attention as the couple’s personalities seemed to ooze right out of the frames they were placed in! He also looks LOADS like Hugo from Made In Chelsea! A Little sweep around the corner and I was greeted by Jo from Light and Lace photography who was being treated to a magic trick or two from Damon Conlon! Jo had a beautiful arch of her captivating photographs placed in front of her stand which made me love her work even more! Next up was Liezl Croft who me & Emily have known for almost the entire 2 years that Bespoke Bride has been running, we were so pleased to see her again and gawk over who gorgeous images as always! She also had a super sweet little tea cosy on her stand which I loved, the best news is Liezl makes those too and even has her own Etsy Shop!
Jordanna Marston was the next photographer I visited and let me tell you, I was SO PLEASED we met this little ball of personality and energy! We had such a good laugh with Jordanna on the day and can only imagine how much fun her couples have when she’s shooting with them! The best part about Jordanna’s work is that it really tells a story, everything is documented beautifully with a little street style to it! Anne Schwarz was just a hop, skip and a jump away (I pretty much did hop skip and jump over there too! Ok…I didn’t hop, that would have been weird) Anne’s images are all about no forced smiles or awkward poses, just pure joy, love and happiness! Ahhh we were so pleased to see the Shepherd Photography were back this year! We met them a year ago at a previous Designer Vintage Bridal Show and instantly fell in love with their work and the styling of their stand! Cue the vintage cameras, scrabble tiles and business cards with free flower hair pins! #amazing! Last but certainly not least I had the pleasure of chatting to Lisa Carpenter who shared my mutual dislike for chair covers! Lisa’s work embodies a mix of contemporary and high-fashion styles to give you truly unique photographs!
The best news about all of these wonderful photographers is that you’ll hopefully be seeing a lot of their work gracing the pages of Bespoke Bride soon so keep your eyes peeled!
Ready to hear about some more AWESOME vendors that were at the show?? Good! Because it’s time to meet the Great British Florist who we LOVE! Their flowers are fresh, scented, natural and sustainable… At the moment only 10% of the flowers sold in Britain are actually grown here. They aim to change all that! Fields of flowers are good for humans, and great for Birds, Butterflies, Bugs and Bees. The Great British Florist grow their own flowers on their farm and use British producers to source the rest! How brilliant is that?! If flowers aren’t really your thing though but a bit of bling is then you will love Debbie Carlisle who creates luxury bespoke vintage jewellery bouquets and vintage-inspired headpieces and cuffs! Her creations are simply beautiful and Debbie herself is just as lovely as her work! Speaking of beautiful jewellery, we were also uber pleased to meet Eclectic Mix who’s designs are stylishly elegant and influenced by the romance and craftsmanship of years gone by. Not far from these beautiful stands was Pompadour Couture who’s bespoke garter’s blew us away! They were just so so so feminine and precious!
Now, if you’re looking for gifts for a bride and groom or some cute little bits and bobs to give to your bridesmaids then you definitely need to head on over to Izzy’s Attic! Izzy was such a sweet heart to have a chat with and we’ve been huge fans of her shop before we even met the lovely lady! Another awesome woman we were excited to meet was Lucy from Lucy Ledger Stationery, not only because her stationery is so beautiful (and not to mention multi- award winning!) but because she writes a regular blog post that we can’t get enough of called ‘Business Tips With Ryan Gosling‘ it’s HILARIOUS! Plus, who doesn’t love Ryan Gosling?! Get over there and have a read of that now! Another Stationer that caught our attention was Selina from Alice Tree, her stand was so cute! I was particularly fond of the halloweeny looking plant sitting pretty on a shelf but seriously, her entire stand was gorgeous! Her tagline is as true as ever, Selina does take care of the details!
As you know at Bespoke Bride we’re all about unique companies who offer something a little different and ‘bespoke’ which is exactly why we fell in love with Sharper Millinery! Sally’s hats and head pieces were so unique and beautiful, the only problem would be choosing just one! We would have a similar problem if we had to choose a cake from The Couture Cake Company too! Not only were there gorgeous cakes on display but there were also cake pops, wedding favors & awesome bits of decor you could buy on the day for your wedding!
So as you can pretty much tell we had an AMAZING time at The Designer Vintage Bridal Show this year and met some truly talented companies! We just can’t shut up about them! Make sure you head on over to their websites and drool over their inspiring and beautiful work!
Much Bespoke Love
