Kelly and Matt define the perfect match with their balancing personalities and similar interests. These two extremely successful lawyers knew that in order to have the time to plan the wedding day they dreamed of, they needed some extra help. They had many friends and family members in Chicago, and wanted to share their special day with as many of them as possible, so they chose to get married in Chicago. Kelly, living in San Francisco at the time, turned to Chicago wedding experts, Bliss Weddings & Events.
Kelly was extremely sweet and bubbly, she had a modern sense of fashion, loved patterns and bold colors, was an avid Kate Spade lover and wanted a wedding design that would stun her 250+ guests. Bliss took this information and ran with it, creating Kelly and Matt’s dream, modern wedding with a vibrant twist.
Keen to incorporate some sort of combination of bold colors in her wedding design, the bride settled on fuchsia, poppy red, orange, yellow and emerald, featuring this colored inspiration in as many aspects of her wedding as possible. Bliss was able to embrace the couple’s spunky charm and transform this vibrant color scheme into a chic wedding with pops of color and pattern. The wedding cake, designed by Cake, followed in suit, with 3D, colored polka dots “falling” off the side of the cake.
Dancing at the reception was also extremely important to the couple. They chose to have the bridal party come out to a DJ mash-up of recent hits, followed by the song Timber to welcome the rest of the guests to the dance floor. Matt shared a special mother/son dance with his mother Karia to “Long as I can see the Light” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. And, Kelly shared her father/daughter dance with her father Jim to “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison. Both the bride and groom describe all the dancing as one of the highlights of their night!
The couple knew they wanted to remember their picture perfect wedding forever. They had the unique idea of hiring artist, Liz Dixon, to create a watercolor of their reception. A piece of still art to highlight the details of their wedding was the perfect way to honor the reception venue (Modern Wing at The Art Institute of Chicago), while capturing the bold and daring colors that Kelly and Matt successfully wowed their guests with!
