RELAXED NEON RAVE WEDDING IN CAMDEN
From the bunting on the ceiling and the glow-sticks in glasses, to the hand-written t-shirts that served as table plans, so much of the final flourishes for Katrina and Tom’s neon rave wedding came together in the final days and it is oh so completely their style!
“Our wedding took place in the Prince Albert Pub in Camden, London. However, we both currently live in Australia – meaning we had to take a somewhat relaxed approach to organising the wedding. Perhaps one of the most important things we did was not worry about all the little details, and in fact this actually helped improve the end-result.” Katrina Began.
“We never wanted a traditional wedding, and this drove so many of the choices we made. Before we began planning, we agreed on a couple of key elements. The wedding must be fun, relaxed, colourful and personal. With help from some truly talented people, we created a truly magical, multi-coloured day.”
“The Prince Albert is a fantastic spot that managed to be both well organised but also very laid-back. Camden is a very alternative part of London, full of strange characters and odd sights. We knew we wanted to include the environment in our photos, and our photographer Anna Pumer was brilliant at capturing the mood of the day. She helped us get amongst the chaos and the colour of Camden Market to create a very unique set of pictures.”
“The Ceremony itself was another key place where we could show our own style. We were lucky to work with a very talented celebrant, Hannah Jones, who helped us create a unique and personal story that included Coffee Patron shots, party poppers, a candle ceremony and a traditional hand-fasting. These different parts allowed us to include our family in the proceedings and created a series of wow moments. In a break from tradition, we wrote each other’s vow’s – putting our words in their mouth – and making every word count.” She explained.
“Bright colours were the overriding theme, and came to life everywhere, from the lasers on the dance-floor to the Opal Wedding rings we both now wear (crafted from one Opal cut in half).”
Perhaps most obviously, it came to life in Katrina’s dress. The wedding dress sums up the essence of the wedding – sparking gold sequins that lit up the room like a million suns. Katrina danced down the aisle to the unmistakable sounds of DJ Fresh’s Gold dust – an up-tempo, high-energy dance floor anthem that got everyone on their feet cheering!
“Ultimately it was an incredible day because it was our day through and through – a day so bright and brilliant it can never fade in our memories.”
