What were your favorite moments from your wedding?
For Megan and Brant, their cherished moments were both intimate and celebratory. “Our favorite moment from the wedding was eating dinner together at our sweetheart table. It was so nice to have a moment to ground ourselves, live in the moment, and look out at all our family and friends who traveled to support us.”
The ceremony itself was also deeply personal. “We were so lucky to be married by one of our dear friends, Jordan. He compiled his script for the wedding day by having separate interviews with Brant and I to learn more about our love story. It was so fun to be able to talk about our relationship in that way, and Jordan did an amazing job writing our ceremony. When I got to the end of the aisle, he prompted us to look out at all of our guests and really take in the moment. I am so thankful for that brief moment looking out at all of our loved ones before we said I do!”

Tell me about your honeymoon or any future travel plans!
Adventure clearly runs in this couple’s veins! “We’re starting to plan our honeymoon for summer 2026! Brant and I both have been scuba diving since we were 12, we wanted to spend it exploring Tahiti and the surrounding islands. We are going to island hop through Tahiti, scuba dive, and hang out on an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora to finish the trip off.” Looks like paradise awaits!
Adding another exciting goal to their horizon, Megan shared, “My grandmother immigrated to America from Italy and my mom and I are in the process of getting our Italian citizenship. Brant and I are hoping to move to Europe and try out living in a new country! I think it would be a fun adventure to put us both outside of our comfort zones.”

Advice to future couples who are currently planning their wedding:
Megan’s advice is all about making the day truly yours. “I recommend incorporating your favorite things and letting both of your personalities show in your wedding. The aspects of our wedding that we got the most compliments on were parts we were most excited about like a live watercolor painter as guest favors, an ice cream cart, signature drinks available as cocktails and mocktails, and live saxophone during cocktail hour. Our wedding day felt like a dream because we were intentional with decisions to make it seem the most like us.”
And a glowing recommendation for their photographer: “I highly recommend hiring Elsa! I was drawn to her true to color editing style and all of her photos looked like hired models having the time of their life. She made Brant and I feel so comfortable in front of the camera and she captured us that way too. She truly has such an amazing eye and as I look back on photos it perfectly captured the day.”

A few fun facts about you two:
This couple is brimming with personality! “Megan plays the alto saxophone.” And Brant is incredibly talented: “Brant is into woodworking and made the welcome sign, escort wall, and cornhole boards for the wedding. He has also made some furniture in our house like our bed frame, a jewelry wall holder, and some wall art!” Adding an extra layer of sweetness, “We got married on our cats’ (Navy & Cobalt) 4th birthday!”

Any final words you would like to close off the blog with (a note to your friends and family)?
Megan and Brant’s gratitude shines through: “We are so thankful to all of our family and friends for traveling to a place that is so special to us to celebrate our love. It was an amazing feeling to be surrounded by so much support as we enter this next stage of our lives together!”

Bespoke Bride’s Tips for Planning Your Own Lakeside Wedding
Inspired by Megan and Brant’s beautiful day? A Lakeside Wedding is a breathtaking choice, but it comes with its own set of considerations to ensure your day is as perfect as you’ve dreamed. We’re here to guide you through it, so you can focus on the magic, not the details.
Embrace the Element of Water
The conventional wisdom is to find a perfect spot and then plan everything around it. Our advice is to let the lake itself be your co-planner. Think about the views, the sunsets, and even the sounds. The lake is more than a backdrop; it’s a character in your love story.
- Insight: Instead of just a backdrop, consider how the water can be part of your experience. Maybe you arrive by boat or have a short, romantic ceremony on a dock. This makes your Lakeside Wedding feel truly immersive.
Time Your Day with the Sun
Everyone wants those beautiful golden hour photos, but at a Lakeside Wedding, the sunset is an event in itself. It’s not just about a pretty sky; it’s about the light bouncing off the water, creating a completely unique atmosphere.
- Tip: Talk to your photographer about timing your ceremony or a key part of your reception to coincide with the sunset. This will give you and your guests a magical moment you’ll never forget and photos that will be cherished forever.
| Old Approach | New Approach (Bespoke Bride Method) |
|---|---|
| Hoping for a clear day and a perfect breeze. | Planning for all possibilities with a “Plan B” you love. |
| Picking flowers based on a Pinterest board. | Choosing flowers that are seasonally appropriate and won’t wilt in the outdoor setting. |
| Treating the venue as a backdrop. | Allowing the lake to become a key part of your celebration. |
FAQs for Planning a Lakeside Wedding
Q: What about the wind and weather? A: Lakeside locations can be breezy, so planning is key. The traditional approach is to just hope for good weather. We suggest you have a backup plan you love just as much as your primary one. This means having a beautiful indoor space or a clear tent on standby. For hair, consider an elegant updo or a style that’s beautiful and secure.
Q: Are lakeside venues more expensive? A: Not necessarily. While some premium spots come with a higher price tag, you can often save on décor because the natural beauty does most of the work for you. The real savings come from embracing the venue’s natural charm rather than trying to transform it.
Q: How can I make our lakeside wedding feel unique? A: The best weddings are a reflection of the couple. Think about what you love and incorporate it. It doesn’t have to be a live saxophone or an ice cream cart, but finding those details that are truly “you” will make your day unforgettable.
