Flower crowns are one of my favourite accessories not only when it comes to weddings but also festivals (and every day life!) whether they’re real flowers, faux flowers or paper flowers I’m seriously obsessed, and all the better when the colours are as bright and bold as this DIY flower crown we’re sharing with you today! Holly from Club Crafted is going to demonstrate how fun making a crown like this is, they would look so adorable on little flower girls or even a great craft to do at a bridal shower! Over to Holly…
When I, Holly, set out to make paper flower crowns, I struggled with how to make flowers that were both simple to make and that would not appear cheesy or childish. After trying out a few different flower designs, I have two styles of flowers to share (with a template!) to make this project as easy as possible for you but still feel elegant, and once put together, these flower crowns are perfect for a bridal shower project or any other type of event you want to celebrate.
I’ll warn you, making these crowns is fun but will be a long process. Just use a variety of your favorite spring colored paper and start cutting! Once all of the pieces are cut and curled, the gluing is a piece of cake. If you have a cutting machine, such as a Cricut or Silhouette, you can upload these PNG templates to cut for you. Otherwise, note that cutting by hand may take some time to cut enough flowers to fill the crown. There are two types of flowers: large individual petal flowers and smaller one-piece flowers.
YOU WILL NEED:
Coloured cardstock, including green for leaves // White cardstock // Scissors // Glue gun and glue sticks // Paper flower templates //
If cutting by hand, print the paper flower templates in your desired size and use them as templates to cut out flowers from the colored cardstock. The one-piece flowers should be about 4 inches wide. The individual petal flowers should be about 2 inches wide for the large petals and 1.5 inch wide for the small petals (5 large, 5 small per flower).
Note, cut some petal shapes out of green paper for leaves and cut the comb-looking pieces out of a yellow or similar color to be the middles of the flowers.Details
One quick look around Bespoke Bride and you’ll find it’s pretty obvious that we’re not HUGE fans of being traditional, you wouldn’t find me throwing a beautiful bouquet that someone has poured their heart into creating just because it’s tradition and I’m not sure I would wear ‘something blue’ on my wedding day but one tradition I do really love is the garter.
I think that there is something so beautiful, sexy and elegant about them when they’re done well and one company that get’s it right every-single-time is the Wedding Garter Co. Their garters range from simplistic to pretty and embellished to fancy, all oozing elegance and style! In case you’re not familiar with The Wedding Garter Co you’ll be pleased to know that every single garter is handmade and has been lovingly crafted in their Bath workshop. Meaning each item truly is an heirloom piece that you can cherish!
Right, let’s talk dresses shall we? Because it’s not always easy to know what style of garter you can wear with different types of wedding dresses. For example, if you’re wearing a dress or skirt that has lot’s of layers then you really can choose from a wide range of garters, in fact you could wear any type that you like, whether it’s lace, silk, tulle or embellished, the garter world is your oyster!
However, if you’re going to be wearing a tight fitting gown then you might want to consider a simple silk garter, The Wedding Garter Co have garters (Like the ‘Hera’ garter) that have been specifically designed to be more sleek and discreet, making them the perfect hidden accessory. (Top Tip: Wear them just above the knee to keep them more concealed)Details
I know what you’re thinking…More photo booth props?! Well after the success of our Snapchat photo booth printables and our flower crown props we couldn’t resist creating a pack of hen party / bridal shower / photo booth props all with an extra dose of girlie added in! You know what it’s like when you see the same cheesy props in photo booths, so we figured, wouldn’t it just be way more fun to print out a bunch of modern (and super pretty!) props?! It sure would!
The best news is this set includes 25 different props so you can guarantee NO ONE is without a prop and they can vary it up for as many photos as they want! There’s an engagement ring, champagne bottle, a bouquet as well as tons of slogans like BEST DAY EVER! and TEAM BRIDE! plus fun heart eye glasses, lipstick kisses, flower crowns and many many more!
Your gal pals will be spoilt for choice! Forget the boring photo booth props why not have a set that is way more girlie and fun?! Me and Emily had a great time just shooting this DIY so we can imagine what it would be like with a whole bunch of girls stood in front of an epic backdrop! Major squad goals right?!
Since beautiful fresh summer flowers seem a million miles away right now we thought it would be nice to add a little colour and floral fun to a plain clutch! You know, just to brighten things up on this dreary Wednesday! (Happy hump day by the way!) This could be an old, unloved clutch that you want to up-cycle or you could grab a bunch of plain new clutches and transform them into great bridesmaid gifts for your gal pals (or you know…just keep it for yourself since it’s so pretty!)
It’s such a simple way to really add the wow factor to this simple accessory and the best news is it requires hardly any materials (Plus it’s super cheap to make!) All you’ll need is a glue gun, a bunch of fake flowers (in the colours of your choice) and a plain clutch! We loved this shade of pink teamed with the white and blue daisy combo!Details
Happy Friday guys! We’ve got a super quick and easy DIY for you to try this weekend and it requires hardly any materials! Bonus! How adorbs would bow ties like these look on a bunch of groomsmen in a summer wedding?! We love the idea of going BIG with the florals! Here’s how to make your own…
YOU WILL NEED:
An old bow tie // small faux flowers // A glue gun //
Cut the stems off your small faux flowers so that they will sit flat against the bow tie.
Grab your glue gun and start to glue your flowers to the tie, we started closest to the middle then worked our way out. Lastly we stuck the middle flower on so that it sat higher than the rest.
It’s no secret that metallics are having a real moment right now, you only have to look in pretty much any shop window to see it and we’ve already seen how beautiful the trend can look when carried over to weddings! So we thought it would be fun to put a bit of a copper twist on the ever amazing floral crown! Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
YOU WILL NEED:
Faux flowers // Metallic Spray paint (We used Rustoleum’s copper spray paint) // A head band // A glue gun //
TIME TO MAKE:
Less than an hour
COST PER HEADBAND:
Less than £10
Take your faux flowers and spray paint them with your metallic spray making sure that you get in-between all of the petals and the back of the flowers, then leave to fully dry. You can apply a second coat if you think it’s necessary.
Using your glue gun, take your first flower and glue it to your headband once you’re happy with it’s position. I decided to use larger flowers on one side of the crown so I stuck those down first.
Repeat this process with all of your flowers making sure to fill out any gaps you can see with smaller flowers until you reach the other end of your crown.
Ok so you’ve chosen your dress, you’ve nailed down your theme and pretty soon you’ll be swooning over all of the stylish accessories out there that you could pair with your outfit! To kick start your daydreaming we’re sharing 10 of our real brides who NAILED the accessorising game on their wedding day! Prepare to fall in love…
1.(Above) This brooch bouquet has hands down been one of the most popular bouquets ever to appear on Bespoke Bride! It’s full of colour just like the rest of the low key back yard wedding!
2. Who could resist a pair of pink heart embellished shoes?! I mean LOOK AT THEM! They’re the perfect mix of girlie and fun and if you love them, then you’ll love this entire eclectic Las Vegas elopement! There was a LOT of pink!
3. That belt tho!!! How beautiful! I love all of the details and those gorgeous hanging embellishments! The bridesmaids dresses were also to die for in this bohemian themed wedding!
4. You guys know that we’re suckers for a floral crown, especially when they’re as colourful and bright as this one! Everything else about this sweet boho wedding will have you swooning!
5. We love the idea of adding a splash of colour to your wedding outfit by wearing a bright petticoat underneath! It adds such a POP to the photos too! See the full wedding here!Details
I don’t know about you but I would LOVE to see a wedding with the bridesmaids in patterned pineapple dresses! I think it’s a super fun idea, especially for the summer and having the pineapples in gold adds that touch of extra glamour to the dresses! Making your own couldn’t be easier either, here’s how to do it!
YOU WILL NEED:
A Cricut (We used the Explore Air) // Gold Iron On Transfer Paper // This template // A plain white dress // An Iron //
Alternatively if you don’t have a Cricut, simply print this template onto printable iron on paper and iron on! It won’t have the same glittery effect but it will still look super cute!
Upload the pineapple template to the Cricut Design Space and size it to around 2 inches wide. You’ll then want to copy and paste it to until you have enough to fill your mat with pineapples. We filled a 12 x 12 inch mat and that was enough to cover the entire front of the dress.
Load your mat into the machine with your gold iron paper and hit go!Details
