TRANSFORM YOUR WEDDING DAY DECOR WITH THESE JEWELED GEOMETRIC IDEAS

We hope you’ve all had the best weekend and if this is your first time visiting the new look site, we hope you have enjoyed what you have seen so far! Our love for colour is no secret, given the number of bright, bold DIY’s wedding’s and Styled shoots we share on our site. And today is no different, as we are super excited to share these jeweled geometric wedding decor ideas with you. Here’s a couple of quick tips for recreating this look for yourself.

First, take inspiration from your venue and work with the colours of the room. Compliment these with other bright and bold tones to make your decor really pop.

Second, if you want to know how to make those glittered champagne glasses all you need to do is get your own plain glasses (these were less than 50p each!) add PVA glue to the base and then sprinkled with glitter. They aren’t dishwasher safe but certainly look pretty and add a little bit of extra sparkle! Super simple, effective and cheap!

Planning a wedding can be hard and while there are plenty of wedding planner notebooks out there what we’ve never seen is a planner specifically designed for managing your DIY projects! It must be pretty dam hard to keep track of each of the projects, how many you need to make, what materials you need, whether you have enough materials, how long it’s going to take to get each project done and whether or not you need to delegate some tasks to the wedding party.

HOW TO STYLE A MOROCCAN BEACH BOHO WEDDING

HOW TO STYLE A MOROCCAN BOHO BEACH WEDDING (3)

In case your new around here, we love to share how easy it is to create a wedding day that is completely unique to you. We love nothing more than to share our DIY’s and inspire you with our brides’ real life weddings, but when it comes to styled shoots, we are always asked…

‘How can we recreate the looks that are featured in your styled shoots?’.

Sound familiar?

Well we kind of felt the same way? We knew how much you guys love to take inspiration from the awesome shoots that we shared but we also knew just sharing images wasn’t as helpful as it could have been.

We are always trying to think of ways to make all our posts useful to you, which is why from now on, we will be sharing our tips and advice on how to ‘get the look’ whenever we feature a styled shoot.

So, today we are going to start with our 5 simple tips for styling one of our favourite wedding trends – boho! It’s not surprising that bohemian style has become a popular theme for weddings. It is incredibly versatile and can be incorporated in many ways, whether your looking to create a theme that’s vibrant and bold or more natural and chill, boho style can be made to work for you. For today’s post however, we chose to go with lots of colour, because #whynot?

FIRST UP, CHOOSE BOLD COLOURS…

It might sound scary but when creating a colourful bohemian theme, you can never have too much! Is anyone else with me here!?

If you find yourself becoming a little overwhelmed at the thought of using ‘all the colours’, here is some advice on choosing a ‘colour scheme’

What are your favourite colours? It might sound super obvious but its usually a good place to start. If you’re currently trying to think of three of your favourite colours that go well together, STOP! Just pick the first three colours that come to mind, they don’t need to match!

I hear so many people say that don’t want to overdo it but trust me, with a Moroccan boho beach theme that just ain’t gonna happen!

Once you have chosen your core colours you can then go about adding touches of other colours elsewhere when and if the mood takes you.

Using colour is about giving yourself the freedom to choose whatever colour scheme you want without having to worry about whether everything matches – which if you ask me seems like a pretty stress-less way to pick a colour theme.

THEN, ADD TEXTURE

Adding different textures is an effective way to achieve that effortless bohemian style – You really can’g go wrong!

Try layering mismatched rugs, cushions and throws, use a runner to create a unique backdrop and add texture to your place settings by using mismatched plates and napkins in variety of colours and prints.

By layering just a few different materials and patterns your theme can quickly turn boho chic.

If you find yourself swamped with too many areas to style, focus on just one or two key locations, ideally those where your guests will spend a greater deal of time.

So, instead of trying to decorate everything, go deep in just one or two main areas, where your efforts will make the most impact. You could create a statement altar at the end of the aisle, which will be your guests main area of focus minutes before you make your entrance or use these tips to style your table decor, where guests can admire your displays whilst they eat, drink and get merry!

This means maximum impact on your guests and less work for you – bonus!

SEAT YOUR GUESTS ON THE FLOOR

No I haven’t gone crazy! Seriously! Use low tables, do away with chairs and use rugs and cushions as something for your guests to sit on!

Don’t worry you can still use normal table and chairs for eating off! This seating arrangement would probably be a little impractical for a full on sit down meal. However, it would make a great chill out area for your guests to sit and relax when they’re all danced out!

STEP 1:

Pop your petals within the heavy books and allow them to flatten, I left for mine for 3 – 4 hours which was plenty of time!

STEP 2:

Take your eyelash glue and apply it to the back of one of the petals then adhere it to your skin. I decided to create flower shapes by positioning 5 petals together! I’ve also read a couple of tutorials online that said you can use vaseline to stick the petals to yourself but this just wasn’t working for me at all, they kept falling off and you obviously want them to last all day on your wedding!

THE BEST 30 TABLE DECOR IDEAS YOU’LL EVER SEE!

Plates

Last week our reader survey closed and hundreds of you got in touch to give us some feedback on the blog, I’ve been absolutely LOVING reading your ideas come in and me and Em are going to be going through them all properly today and sharing the results with you all at the end of this week! One thing you did keep asking for was more decor inspiration so while we get brainstorming some fresh ideas for you here’s 30 AWESOME ways that you can style up your tables…

1. Use contrasting patterns to make a bold statement!

I know, I know, it can be a little scary placing contrasting patterns together but look how awesome it can look?! As long as you don’t overdo it then patterns can really add an extra dimension to your decor! You can see a tutorial for these hand painted plates here but it doesn’t have to just be plates, you could layer patterns with the table cloth, napkins and even place settings!

2. Add colour with place mats

I feel like place mats are often overlooked these days but they really can look super beautiful against a white tablecloth! You can even download these gorgeous brushstroke place mats and print them out!

3. Use a little wood

Geometric-Prismatic-colourful-modern-wedding-inspiration-unique-fun-18

I absolutely love how stylists took the rustic elements of wood and added a pop of colour to them in this styled shoot! By adding bright glittered card to the top or different colour wheels it really modernises the wooden look!

4. Add sparkle with disco balls!

You really can’t go wrong with a little sparkle and if you’re a fan of bling bling then disco balls are an epic way to style up your table! Plus you can get them in all sizes so you could even pop some giant ones around the venue! See the full shoot here!

5. Fill old cans with flowers

CREATIVE AND COLOURFUL STYLED WEDDING WITH PAPER FLOWERS AND PAPER BACKDROP (9)

If you want to keep the costs down then filling used cans with flowers is a great alternative to small vases! I love the Mexican style cans in this styled shoot but you can always take the labels off and spray paint the cans too!

6. Create a floating table runner with balloons

Balloons can sometimes get a bad rep but when done well they can really add a fun and elegant touch to your decor! Instead of placing a bunch in the middle of the table it looks so much better to have them running along the length of your table creating an almost floating table runner! Plus how beautiful are these palm frond balloons?!

IF YOU HAVE A THING FOR WALL MURALS, YOU’LL LOVE THESE COUPLES PORTRAITS!

Colourful Wall Murals Wedding Day Couples Portraits

It’s no secret that me and Emily love a good wall mural! We had an absolute ball hunting them down in Shoreditch and I think it’s fair to say we can’t pass a colourful building without forcing one of our other halves to take photos of us in front of it! Luckily for us, we’re not alone in this obsession and have featured our fair share of awesome couples who took amazing couple portraits in front of painted walls! Here’s our favourites…

1.This couple went a colourful wall crawl for their engagement shoot and ended up finding a ball pit! Ritika and Raj are a silly, sweet, fun, thoughtful couple. Their love story started at George Washington University in Washington, DC (Go Colonials!). As college sweethearts they have watched one another grow and seen the ups and downs of the transition from college days to adult life, which for these two go-getters includes a full-time job as an analyst and medical school. Since Ritika and Raj’s love story unfolded in DC, it was only natural that their engagement session take place there as well”, photographer Amy Gray told us. SEE THE FULL E-SHOOT HERE!

2. I am sure pink obsessives all over will agree, that this quite possibly is the most epic pink wedding in the history of all pink weddings! The grooms shirt to the bride’s shoes and everything in between was pink! “After the ceremony and downtown photo tour we left to go enjoy more photos at the Linq on the Las Vegas Strip. We made a pit stop at Sprinkles Cupcakes to enjoy a sweet purchase from the Cupcake ATM. All the pretty colors of the backdrop wall at Sprinkles made for an excellent photo spread!” SEE THE FULL ELOPEMENT HERE!

From its pop art murals to the perma-parked old yellow truck, it had it all! Lush grounds with blossoms on the trees were perfect for the “spring-y” feel Ashley and the rest of the team had wanted the shoot to emit! CLICK HERE TO SEE THE SHOOT!
