“Guyaume is really shy and couldn’t say any words the first time we met, except ‘good morning’ and ‘bye.” Najma began.
“Despite that first not so charming meeting, we added each other on Facebook and started real conversations. Since that day, we’ve always been together. We’ve studied together, traveled the world together and last year bought a house. We think we are soul mates and the perfect duo, I’m more spontaneous and intense whilst he’s more calm and shy. ”
“There were actually two proposals. One didn’t quite go as planned, whilst the other one was better. Guyaume did his first proposal totally unprepared. He was so nervous that he was word-less and ended up giving me the ring as a gift. I was so confused, I wasn’t sure if it was a wedding ring. Once we talked,I understood his intentions and so we started to plan our wedding a few months later. On Valentines Day, Guyaume surprised me with a second proposal. This time, there were a engagement ring in a macaron’ box (my fave!) and he officially proposed.” Najma explained.
“It was hard to say what style or theme we wanted for our wedding, everything came naturally with our different vendors but there were a lot of different influences! First we live in Montreal and we love the city, so our wedding needed to be in the city. The venue Soupesoup, is in the heart of the old Montreal, with an industrial look and big windows that wowed us. Guyaume studied as and architect and designer and was charmed at the first sight by the ambiance and urban style.” she added.
“I went through a lot of different wedding blogs to find our suppliers and ended up meeting a lot of different people. We wanted more than just service providers, we wanted people that saw our wedding as we saw it! Flowers were also very important, I wanted a simple and industrial arch. We had a crush on the florist, Que passent les saison and at the first meeting in her cute little shop, far away from Montreal, we knew it had to be her! For the photographer, we were in love with Camille Marciano’s style, she’s from France but we met though internet and skype, everything was so natural and spontaneous with her.”
“My dress was natural and simple, the first time I went into a boutique just to have a look, I ended up with two dresses I loved! Later, I went back with my mom and best friend to make the final choice and decided on the simple and delicate dress.” Explained Najma.
“The decoration was a melting pot between my mom, who loves vintage stuff and my dad whose Moroccan. So we put up pictures of my parents and grandparents. .. around the windrows to remind us of them, so vintage! I also wanted to include my culture and asked someone to do henna tattoos during the cocktails. We then served tea and Moroccan sweets during the night as the sweet table and had a folkloric kind of music during part of the night.”
