We’re super excited to be sharing not one, not two but three DIY hair clip tutorials today from one of our DIY contributors Kaleigh! There’s a clip to suit 3 different styles so whether you’re into rustic vibes, girlie florals or pretty pearls then there’s a tutorial for you, and all perfect timing with spring on the horizon! Over to Kaleigh from Paper Moon Collective to share more…

For a DIY bride it’s the handmade details that make the big day even more special. Creating something you can wear down the aisle means creating a keepsake that you can enjoy for years to come. No matter what your bridal style may be, these hair clips are guaranteed to add a unique touch to your look.

I’ve created three easy to make clips that can all be completed in just three simple steps!  No stressing over the little details here!

THE RUSTIC BLING

YOU WILL NEED:

A Barrette // Jute Ribbon // A Gem // Beads // Scissors // Wire Cutters (Optional) // Hot Glue Gun // Super Glue //

STEP 1:

Cut a piece of jute to fit your barrette. Then apply hot glue to the top of the barrette and place the jute so no metal is showing. Cut any excess jute off.

STEP 2:

Using more hot glue, add your gem to the center of your barrette!

Tip: If your gem is actually a button like mine was, you may need to use wire cutters to clip off the back before gluing it to your barrette.

STEP 3:

Add a small amount of super glue to the bottom of your beads and place them in a line on either side of your gem.

THE FLOWER POWER

SAY HELLO YOUR NEW FAVOURITE BRIDAL STYLE: MIX AND MATCH

mix-and-match-allure-bridal

As many of you will know, neither myself nor Emily are married yet, and we’ve certainly had our fair share of weddings to look at for inspiration for when the big days do come! I know they always say that you never go for the dress you have in your mind, but I’m pretty certain that the two-piece trend is for me! I spend most of my days in high-waisted jeans or high-waisted maxi skirts & tops, so I love the idea of being able to carry that over to a wedding.

It’s safe to say that I am a serious lover of the two-piece trend so when I heard that Allure Bridals was bringing out a new collection of not just bridal wear but also bridesmaid styles in mix and match, I was beyond excited! I mean, this means you could wear one style in the day then swap out either the top or the skirt for a completely different look in the evening! Winning!

It also means that you can tie in your bridesmaids nicely without having them completely matching. This is one of my favourite styles in weddings. Imagine having each of your bridesmaids wearing the same gorgeous top, and then each of them wearing a different skirt that suits her style! Or you could do it the other way around and have matching skirts with completely different tops!

LACE & HENNA INSPIRED NAIL TUTORIAL

Festival Lace Bridal Nails Lavender Purple Elegant Glastonbury Nail Tutorial_-final

By the time you guys read this tutorial I’ll be at Glastonbury enjoying the music in the (hopefully) glorious sunshine! If it’s raining while you’re reading this then I am probably gutted! Ha! Anyway when it came to getting my nails done for the festival Gemma came up with the idea of creating a henna type effect on my nails and I was SO GAME!!

Us gals had already bought white henna tattoos for the festival so creating a design on my nails that matched the henna was a perfect idea and I love the way they turned out! Here’s how you can recreate the look:

YOU WILL NEED:

Jessica Geleration Sugar High (Or you could use Jessica New Kid In Town Polish) // Gelish Matte Top It Off // Dotting Tool // MoYou stamp // MoYou Bridal Stamping Nail Art Plate Collection // MoYou scraper // A Top Coat // White nail polish //

STEP 1:

Paint the nails with 3 coats of Sugar High.

STEP 2:

Add a coat of the gelish matte top it off to add a matte effect to the nails.

STEP 3:

Paint the section of the stencil that you want to use with the while polish, then using the scrape tool, scrape off any excess polish so that the white has filled in the gaps of the stencil.

STEP 4:

Using your MoYou stamp pick up the design using a rolling motion then stamp it straight onto the nail. Repeat across all nails.

So last week while I was listening to ‘Lemonade’ I was going through our blog schedule and thinking up some fun DIY ideas and it hit me! BAM! Why don’t we make some cocktail glasses with Beyonce lyrics on them?! I’m planning on using these for my Birthday in a couple of weeks time when I have all the girls over for drinks and I think they would be super fun for a hen party or bachelorette party or even as favours for your female guests! GIRL POWEL y’all!

YOU WILL NEED:

Plain glasses (I bought these ones from Argos and they were £1.99 for 4 glasses! Total bargain!) // A Cricut Explore* // Cricut’s Gold Window Cling // Transfer tape //

* Please note I’m sure you could still do this with gold sticker letters if you wanted to, but you would need ALOT of letters and I think they would fall off quite easy! By using a Cricut machine you can just type in or upload what you want it to cut out and it will do it for you which is way easier!
