THIS BRIDES SHARES HER TOP TIPS FOR A TOTALLY RELAXED & INFORMAL BIG DAY!
I’ve been soooo excited to share today’s real wedding, a beautiful boho bride, bridesmaids in dresses all colours of the rainbow and a very unique macrame altar are just some of the things that I love most about Connie and Gary’s rustic wedding day at Yeldersley Hall in Derbyshire. Ok, let’s see more!
ain“Our theme evolved as we went along and turned into a colourful, rustic theme with some boho vibes thrown in for good measure.” Connie began.
“We are both very chilled and informal and we like to live life to the full, so a vibrant and relaxed theme fitted us perfectly.”
“We found Yeldersley Hall online and it was only the 2nd venue we looked at, but we instantly loved it and Andrew was so welcoming and relaxed that we knew it would suit what we were looking for. We wanted a venue near to Sheffield and Nottingham that was quirky and rustic. All the different areas in and around the ground added a few different dimensions to the day which we loved.”
“We we’re engaged for exactly 20 months, so had plenty of time to plan everything. We did most things gradually ourselves, ticking things off on a kitchen chalk board as we went, but had plenty of help from friends, bridesmaids and groomsmen along the way. A craft weekend drinking Prosecco and making ribbon chair ties and a huge rainbow chandelier was a definite highlight!! It was very DIY and any ideas that sprung to mind were followed up with a browse on Pinterest for easy tips to bring things to life. The key for us was to just do things bit by bit so nothing was too rushed and also to keep track of deadlines etc with a spreadsheet that seemed to grow as we went along.” Connie explained.
“The bar hire and chef were recommended by the venue and they certainly lived up to expectations! Andrew works with both of them regularly, so they were very familiar with the venue and how things worked. Alex the makeup artist was an Instagram find. I wanted natural looking makeup that would last all day and Alex’ style appealed from the get go. The hairdresser for me and the bridesmaids was a recommendation from a friend and despite living in Sheffield and them being based in Derby they have now become my hairdressers even after the wedding! The macrame frame and cake stand were supplied by a very talented lady who I learned about through attending her macrame workshop and she mentioned the large macrame arch and beautiful wooden cake stand that fitted out theme perfectly!”
“Our only nerves surrounded the ceremony and first dance as being right in the spot light felt a bit daunting beforehand, but on the day all of that just melted away and we didn’t want any of it to end,” she told us.
“There’s nothing for us that we wish we had or hadn’t done, but we do wish we could do it all again! Just relax and enjoy it. There may be the odd hiccup here and there, but don’t dwell on anything. We were just so happy and chilled out that we had so much fun! oh and stay on the dance floor in the evening…your guests will come to you ;-)”
